Motivation Monday – Everything in Moderation


We’ve all heard the quote.  “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.”

There are so many things wrong with that quote.

Number one, the point isn’t to be skinny.  The point is to be fit and healthy.

Number two, I can think of lots of things that taste pretty awesome.  And you shouldn’t have to give them up.

Everything in moderation.  Maybe I can’t eat cold pizza for breakfast every day or go out for lunch four times a week.  But I can do these things sometimes.  I’ll be honest – I love food.  I can’t do any of those diets that require you to give up things.  Even if I rarely eat something, as soon as it’s “off limits,” it’s all I want to eat all the time.

Moderation.  It’s the key to everything.

  1. I’m with you, there’s nothing off limit to me where eating is concerned.. I change my serving size, but I still allow myself indulge in some not so healthy foods.

    Being skinny isn’t what’s important.. it’s being the healthiest you that you can be.

  2. I totally agree! I’ve always been annoyed by that quote. Moderation is the key with so many things. I am trying to cut back on certain foods that I know I shouldn’t have all the time. But, I’m allowing myself some treats as well because cutting everything out is just going to make me not want to keep up with it.

  3. I have no desire to be skinny. (I have always failed to understand the desire to look emaciated.) I’d like to remove some waistline flab and get my weight back to where it was twenty years ago (hmmm, which is the same as saying twenty pounds ago). I have no desire to be as skinny as I was the summer of 1961 (the year I graduated from high school); I just want to have my pants fit properly and see if I can run a bit faster if I’m not carrying that extra twenty pounds — but mostly it’s a health thing.

  4. Definitely with you on the moderation…I’ve tried going cold turkey on soda and it just doesn’t work. Now I let myself have some once or twice a week, when we are eating out.
