Product Review: Vitacost Glonaturals Coconut Collection

20130906-094904.jpgFull Disclosure – Vitacost provided me with the items to review, but the opinions are all my own.

When the opportunity arose to review Vitacost’s Glonaturals Coconut Collection, I jumped at the chance.  I love body products.  Seriously.  It’s a slight addiction.  You should see my bathroom cabinet.  Actually, no you shouldn’t.  It’s a little embarrassing.  I also love coconut oil as a moisturizer, so I was excited to try out these products.

I received five products.  From left to right in the photo above:  face cream, face & body cleanser, hair serum, body lotion, and eye cream.  The first thing I noticed was the great packaging for the two larger bottles.  I love pump bottles for lotion.  I was a little surprised to see it for the face and body cleanser, since that bottle was going in my shower, but I loved the idea of being able to keep it by the sink and also use it as a hand wash if I wanted to.

The first thing I always do when I get a new hair product is check the ingredients.  I’m very picky about what goes in my hair. Like a lot of curly girls, I avoid silicones and other -cones, as they just weigh down my curls.  Unfortunately, this product includes those ingredients, so I have set this aside to give to a friend who does love the products in her hair.  They’re neither good nor bad – just something that doesn’t work with my type of hair.

Because I have a great facial routine, I opted to use the face cream on my neck and chest.  Those areas often get avoided when it comes to moisturizer, and I want to do everything I can to prevent having an old lady neck until I am actually an old lady.  I really liked the texture of the cream.  It felt very moisturizing, though I preferred to use it at night because it was a bit thick and greasy.

I am TERRIBLE about using eye cream, so this trial forced me to use it regularly.  Awesome texture and it didn’t mess with my makeup.  I consider it a win.

The body wash is lovely, thought not as coconutty as I would like it to be.  The scent actually reminded me of coconut yogurt.  But it cleans well and doesn’t leave me feeling dry and itchy.  The fragrance also isn’t overpowering post-shower so it doesn’t mess with my perfume.  Definitely a win.

The real gem in this kit is the body lotion.  It is amazing.  It soaks right in and doesn’t leave any sort of greasy feeling.  It makes for a perfect light lotion and I love using it on my hands.  I don’t leave greasy fingerprints on anything. The fragrance is light and definitely not overpowering.  While I’m not sure about the other products, this is one I will likely buy again.  The bottle is perfect for at work because I don’t have to worry about getting lotion all over my keyboard.
