Grr. Argh.

I have no idea what I did to my body, but it is in full rebellion.  My lower back has been achy on and off for weeks, and yesterday, my piriformis was aching so badly that I booked a massage appointment for after work.  My therapist’s efforts definitely helped, but there’s just so much tightness in my body that she couldn’t get everything worked out in the time we had.

The biggest problem is that I have no idea what I did.  I also don’t know which muscles are the ones causing the problem.  If you remember from learning anatomy, everything is connected in some way.  So a pain in my lower back might be tight hips or tight hamstrings or…  I joked that it was all my right elbow’s fault.

I am a fan of finding the root of a problem and then working to fix it.  I have yet to determine the root of this problem.  So even though I’m stretching and doing massage, it’s still not enough.  I’m hoping to get into a chiropractor to see if she can help me hunt down the culprit and more importantly, tell me what I need to be doing to fix it.

I’m convinced it’s a combination of muscle weakness and muscle tightness.  But rather than just trying to strengthen and stretch everything, I want to make sure what I’m doing is going to help rather than hurt.  And I want to make sure that I’m not creating more of a muscle imbalance.

Cross your fingers for me.  And if you know of good stretching routines, let me know.  I will try them all.  In the middle of my office.
