Ahh, weekend. Should be nice and calm, right? You know me, that’s rarely an option, especially not this month. This weekend, I’m participating in 24 Hours of Booty, a charity fundraiser for LiveStrong and the Ulman Cancer Fund. (Click here to donate.)
What is 24 Hours of Booty? It’s an event that lasts 24 hours where cyclists show up and ride the Booty Loop. I don’t know if actually rides the full 24 hours, but I’m sure people try. No, you ride as much or as little as you want. I’ll be camping out at the site and plan to get in as many miles as I can. I’d like to try to hit 100 miles if my body allows it. I’ve never ridden more than around 45, so we’ll see what happens. This is definitely a good opportunity to push myself and I hope that I can walk on Monday.
Most importantly, I’m going out to have fun and support a good cause. I’m a little bit nervous, since the event is totally new to me, but I’m really looking forward to hanging out with friends and making tons and tons of new friends.
I hope that it doesn’t rain, but as our team captain put it, riding in the rain is nothing when compared to the struggles of those fighting cancer. It’s a good reminder of what is really important in life.
