Catching Up

I’m not sure where the week has gone.  I can’t believe it’s already Thursday.  And you know what that means!  Only today and tomorrow left to enter the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler lottery!  I know a lot of people don’t like the uncertainty of a lottery, but this one is pretty great because you will know by Tuesday whether or not you’re in!  That’s not a long wait at all!  Come run the race with me!

In other news, I spent most of yesterday with a number of World War II vets.  These people are awesome!  There is a reason they’re known as the Greatest Generation.  I met people who did all sorts of crazy things out of a sense of duty to their country and then who, after the war, just went home and worked and raised families and didn’t talk about what they did because it wasn’t amazing, it was just what they had to do.  Absolutely incredible.  I think there were some video interviews done with these folks and I can’t wait to be able to link them for you.

(Also, we were at an event until around 11, at which point I was exhausted and these folks in their 90’s and 100’s were going strong!  I hope to be half as energetic when I’m their age.)

With all the negativity in the press lately, it’s important to remember that there are still amazing people out there doing amazing things every day, not just those in the Greatest Generation, but in all the generations to follow.  That said, I think we can learn a lot from those who went before us and make a point to step up when we’re needed and to remain humble while doing so.
