My life has been an embarrassment of riches lately. As some of you know, I was selected to be a Coeur Sports Ambassador for the 2015 season. There are some amazing ladies on this list and I’m so proud to be part of them.
Why Coeur Sports? Well, I love their gear, for one. But I love their beliefs even more.
Coeur is French for heart & the root of the word courage. And that’s what we put into our collections and our sport. As an athlete, you know that athletic performance is about so much more than genetic talent. Its also about heart. Heart is about digging deep and being mentally tough. Heart is what gets you to the finish line when all the body wants to do is lay down. Heart is at the center of the community and the friendships you find in sport. Heart is what makes you give back to the community that has given you so much. the Everything we do at Coeur – from our designs to how we play a role in our community – should reflect our values and how we aim to conduct ourselves.
As many of you know, I tend to be a big mouth about supporting the slower runners and also the bigger athletes, especially the bigger triathletes, who have trouble finding gear. I’ll be honest – I’m at the top of the Coeur Sports size charts, and if I’m really honest with myself, I have a bit of weight to lose before I can comfortably wear the kit in public. (It’s good incentive.) But I’ve spoken with Kebby, the founder of the company, and she promises that larger sizes are in the works. It’s tough for new companies to come out with the bigger sizes right away because even though we Athenas have big mouths, there just aren’t that many of us. I can’t wait until the day that I can tell you that Coeur has increased their size range. It’s just a matter of time.
