{"id":1785,"date":"2013-05-03T08:00:02","date_gmt":"2013-05-03T12:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=1785"},"modified":"2013-05-02T12:55:00","modified_gmt":"2013-05-02T16:55:00","slug":"diet-to-go-intro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/03\/diet-to-go-intro\/","title":{"rendered":"Diet-to-Go Intro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of my Diet-to-Go Ambassadorship, on Tuesday, I received 5 days worth of meals to try out.\u00a0 I started them on Wednesday, so today is Day 3.\u00a0 I will finish the meals on Tuesday (skipping the weekend).\u00a0 I will do a full review next week, but since it could get long, I wanted to kind of intro the product today.<\/p>\n<p>Full disclosure &#8211; I&#8217;m a Diet-to-Go Ambassador.\u00a0 This is unpaid, but for this review, I got the meals for free.\u00a0 That said, I&#8217;m not the sort to give a product a great review just because a company gave it to me (or if they were to compensate me for the review in another way).\u00a0 That&#8217;s not me.<\/p>\n<p>I also want you to read <a href=\"http:\/\/katywidrick.com\/2013\/03\/28\/review-diet-to-go\/\" target=\"_blank\">Katy Widrick&#8217;s review of Diet-to-Go<\/a>.\u00a0 It is an excellent review, and she even has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.katieheddleston.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Katie Heddleston<\/a>, a Registered Dietician (and all around awesome person) look at the nutritional stats.\u00a0 Katy and Katie give the highs and lows of the product and provide a lot of great information.<\/p>\n<p>I have used Diet-to-Go before, probably about a year and a half ago, maybe a bit longer.\u00a0 I really liked it.\u00a0 It was easy and tasty.\u00a0 I stopped because of the cost.\u00a0 For me, it just wasn&#8217;t sustainable.\u00a0 That said, it stayed on my radar for times when life got busy.\u00a0 Not having to plan meals or grocery shop can be a huge time saver.<\/p>\n<p>I know some of you are reading this and thinking &#8220;But prepared meals aren&#8217;t healthy.&#8221;\u00a0 Would cooking everything on my own be healthier?\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 That&#8217;s obvious.\u00a0 But you&#8217;ve heard me talk about my food beliefs.\u00a0 I know I <em>should<\/em> cook more.\u00a0 But I don&#8217;t.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t enjoy cooking, I really don&#8217;t enjoy cooking for one (and the cleanup afterwards) and I end up just grabbing easy foods.\u00a0 So for me, Diet-to-Go is a great option.<\/p>\n<p>One thing that really excited me was the idea of substitutions for the meals.\u00a0 See something on the menu you don&#8217;t like?\u00a0 You can substitute something else.\u00a0 Personally, I&#8217;m not a huge fan of onions.\u00a0 I like them well enough in soups and stews (and rings, but everything is good breaded and fried), but they have to be fully cooked.\u00a0 Any crunch and I shudder.\u00a0 Raw onions wreak havoc on my stomach, so I think that my dislike of them comes from that.\u00a0 I still remember my disappointment from the last time I used DTG and was so excited for a delicious-looking sandwich for lunch.\u00a0 One bite and&#8230; ONIONS.\u00a0 So sad.<\/p>\n<p>So I asked them that onions be limited.\u00a0 Okay in chilis and stews, not okay in sandwiches and other things.\u00a0 And man, did they deliver.\u00a0 I had a bunch of substituted meals, and each one was awesome.\u00a0 This did mean more sweet breakfasts and only one savory breakfast, but there is nothing wrong with more waffles and pancakes in my world.<\/p>\n<p>A full review will come next week, but so far, I&#8217;m pretty happy.<\/p>\n<p>Diet-to-Go has sent a coupon code that first time buyers can use.\u00a0 For a limited time only, Diet-to-Go is offering readers a 25% discount on their first week of meals.
