{"id":1858,"date":"2013-05-22T08:00:34","date_gmt":"2013-05-22T12:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=1858"},"modified":"2013-05-20T08:34:21","modified_gmt":"2013-05-20T12:34:21","slug":"1858","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/22\/1858\/","title":{"rendered":"Tri Training Plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve started thinking about my training plans through the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s right.\u00a0 Through the end of the year.\u00a0 That seems like a lot of planning.\u00a0 But at some point, I&#8217;ll have to start training for January&#8217;s marathon, and I have another triathlon to train for later this summer.<\/p>\n<p>For the marathon, I&#8217;m definitely using one of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.halhigdon.com\">Hal Higdon&#8217;s plans<\/a> again.\u00a0 Preferably one with only one 20 mile run.\u00a0 The idea of doing 2 or 3 just seems painful.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll probably use Novice 1 or 2 with a tiny bit of modifying &#8211; I want to keep up with one bike and one swim workout per week, just to keep myself in shape before I jump back into tri training after the marathon.\u00a0 Yes, I&#8217;m just assuming I will love triathlons and will want to do them again next year.<\/p>\n<p>For triathlons, I&#8217;ve been using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.athleta.net\/2012\/02\/27\/athleta-iron-girl-training-guide\/\">Athleta&#8217;s training plan<\/a> with some modifications (longer Tuesday swim and Sunday run, no Sunday swim, Team Fight swim on Thursdays).\u00a0 I picked this one purely because the workouts fit into my schedule.\u00a0 It&#8217;s definitely more than sufficient for my June tri, but the one in August will need a bit more distance, I think, especially on the bike.\u00a0 I think that I may join up with the Mid-Maryland Tri Club for Sunday bike rides on the course and flip my Saturday and Sunday workouts.<\/p>\n<p>But I&#8217;m also scanning other triathlon training plans to see what else is out there.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve found so far:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.beginnertriathlete.com\/cms\/article-detail.asp?articleid=376\">BeginnerTriathlete.com<\/a> plans.\u00a0 They have some nice free plans I may check out.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trinewbies.com\/tno_trainingprograms.asp\">TriNewbies Online<\/a>.\u00a0 Lots of info, but I&#8217;m not sure how I feel about their plans.<\/li>\n<li>Hal Higdon also has some tri plans, but I definitely feel like they don&#8217;t have enough training time for me.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Any other plans I should know about?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve started thinking about my training plans through the end of the year.
