{"id":2618,"date":"2014-02-19T12:00:13","date_gmt":"2014-02-19T17:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=2618"},"modified":"2014-02-19T12:00:13","modified_gmt":"2014-02-19T17:00:13","slug":"just-keep-swimming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2014\/02\/19\/just-keep-swimming\/","title":{"rendered":"Just keep swimming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Managed to actually make it to the pool today.\u00a0 Go me!<\/p>\n<p>Since I do two pool workouts a week, I try to make Tuesday&#8217;s (or Wednesday&#8217;s, in this case) an endurance workout while Thursday&#8217;s is a team swim filled with painful drills.<\/p>\n<p>By that, I mean that on the first workout of the week, I just try to swim without stopping.\u00a0 I aim to hit 1600 meters (32 laps), and so far this year, that&#8217;s been working.\u00a0 I&#8217;m still fairly slow.\u00a0 Today, that took me 50 minutes.\u00a0 But I stopped more often than I would like because I was lazy.\u00a0 And also because I&#8217;m easily distracted.\u00a0 I have considered getting headphones for in the pool, but on some level, it&#8217;s good to be able to just put my head down and swim.\u00a0 Much better preparation for races, I think.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d like to get that 1600 under 45 minutes, and I think it&#8217;s very possible if I just focus.\u00a0 But it would be nice to do it without thinking.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll get there.\u00a0 I just need to keep working at it.\u00a0 I&#8217;m also doing my best to balance my heart rate issues with swimming.\u00a0 After all, if my HR gets too high while running, I can stop.\u00a0 Not an option while swimming.\u00a0 That said, I could swim faster.\u00a0 I&#8217;m just being a little lazy about it.<\/p>\n<p>I do enjoy the swim workout though.\u00a0 It&#8217;s nice to be using my upper body for once!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Managed to actually make it to the pool today.\u00a0 Go me!
