{"id":307,"date":"2012-02-16T18:32:55","date_gmt":"2012-02-16T23:32:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=307"},"modified":"2012-02-16T18:32:55","modified_gmt":"2012-02-16T23:32:55","slug":"and-i-would-walk-five-hundred-miles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2012\/02\/16\/and-i-would-walk-five-hundred-miles\/","title":{"rendered":"And I would walk five-hundred miles&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Anyone else know that song?\u00a0 Anyone?\u00a0 Bueller?\u00a0 Bueller?<\/p>\n<p>Nevermind.<\/p>\n<p>My goal this year isn&#8217;t to walk 500 miles, but rather to run 600 miles.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been a goal for the past couple of years, and I have yet to make it.\u00a0 It sounds like a lot, but when you break it down, it&#8217;s not too bad.\u00a0 50 miles a month.\u00a0 Definitely doable if I stick to a schedule.<\/p>\n<p>So far, so good.\u00a0 Races in both January and February didn&#8217;t hurt.\u00a0 I managed around 75 miles in January, which is a great way to start out ahead of the curve.\u00a0 I will easily hit my 50 miles this month unless I get injured or sick and don&#8217;t run my half marathon (which I hope doesn&#8217;t happen &#8211; knock on wood!).<\/p>\n<p>I like setting these sorts of goals.\u00a0 If I make them, great!\u00a0 If I don&#8217;t, I will try better next time.\u00a0\u00a0 I can&#8217;t control my health or my injuries &#8211; not really, anyway.\u00a0 I can just try to keep myself in the best shape possible so that I can get all of my miles in.\u00a0\u00a0 That means getting a proper amount of sleep, eating well, and sticking to a reasonable training schedule.<\/p>\n<p>I have a lot of races planned for this year.\u00a0 I just signed up for two more and plan to sign up for yet another at the Princess expo.\u00a0 The two spring races are what I&#8217;m considering &#8220;supported training runs.&#8221;\u00a0 I&#8217;m not going to push, I&#8217;m just going to go out and enjoy the course and the fact that I can get in a training run between half marathons and not have to carry all my water with me.\u00a0 Oh, and get some fun finisher&#8217;s items as well.<\/p>\n<p>And the most important part, run with my friends.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anyone else know that song?\u00a0 Anyone?\u00a0 Bueller?\u00a0 Bueller?
