{"id":3460,"date":"2015-03-11T10:33:50","date_gmt":"2015-03-11T14:33:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=3460"},"modified":"2015-03-11T10:33:50","modified_gmt":"2015-03-11T14:33:50","slug":"back-to-running-and-marathon-talk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2015\/03\/11\/back-to-running-and-marathon-talk\/","title":{"rendered":"Back to Running and Marathon Talk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hey, what happened to Workout Wednesdays?<\/p>\n<p>Well, for the past few weeks, those would be pretty boring.\u00a0 Basically, I ran an amazing half marathon on February 15, then I went on a cruise and ran an awesome 5K, got home, caught my brother&#8217;s cold, and haven&#8217;t been fully healthy since.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve still got a lingering cough, but I&#8217;d say I&#8217;m on the mend.\u00a0 The super dry air probably hasn&#8217;t helped, so thank goodness for a warmish, rainy day.<\/p>\n<p>I did get through 8 miles of speedwork last night, which was impressive, since it&#8217;s the longest I&#8217;ve rune since my half marathon.\u00a0 It felt pretty good.\u00a0 Well, as good as speedwork can feel, anyway.\u00a0 The problem definitely wasn&#8217;t my lungs.<\/p>\n<p>On another subject, a coworker recently mentioned to me that she was thinking about trying to run the Chicago Marathon.\u00a0 She and I work in different departments, but met because we both have running related stickers on the back of our cars.\u00a0 She&#8217;s never done a marathon and just isn&#8217;t sure that it&#8217;s for her.<\/p>\n<p>I told her that while I didn&#8217;t plan to run another marathon anytime soon, I had done two and it was definitely worth doing.\u00a0 There&#8217;s only one way to find out if a marathon is for you and that&#8217;s to try.\u00a0 If she&#8217;s been doing half marathons, she&#8217;s already on the right track, and Chicago is certainly an awesome first full, from what I&#8217;ve heard.<\/p>\n<p>So this advice goes for all of you who are thinking about marathons.\u00a0 Yes, the training does take up a bunch of time, but it&#8217;s certainly an accomplishment to run those 26.2 miles.\u00a0 Some people will tell you that after one, you will be hooked.\u00a0 After one, I was unsure.\u00a0 So I ran another one.\u00a0 And I decided it wasn&#8217;t for me, but I definitely don&#8217;t regret those two marathons.\u00a0 Now I have done it, I know I can do it, and I can check it off the list.\u00a0 Maybe I&#8217;ll run another one someday, maybe I won&#8217;t.\u00a0 But it&#8217;s certainly worth doing once.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hey, what happened to Workout Wednesdays?
