{"id":364,"date":"2012-04-04T07:56:41","date_gmt":"2012-04-04T11:56:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=364"},"modified":"2012-04-04T07:56:41","modified_gmt":"2012-04-04T11:56:41","slug":"what-did-i-just-do","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/04\/what-did-i-just-do\/","title":{"rendered":"What did I just do?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, an email went out.\u00a0 An email with a promo for Disney Visa cardholders.\u00a0 We could sign up for 2013 Disney Marathon Weekend with a discount ($15 off the half and full, $30 off Goofy).<\/p>\n<p>And I did it.<\/p>\n<p>I signed up for my first marathon.<\/p>\n<p>And now I am terrified.<\/p>\n<p>It was funny, actually.\u00a0 As I was filling out the form, my heart was racing.\u00a0 What in the world am I doing?\u00a0 Can I actually do this?<\/p>\n<p>After all the testing I underwent with my weird heart and having to slow down my running permanently, I said that I would never do a marathon, that I was destined to be a half marathoner.\u00a0\u00a0 But then I talked to some friends.\u00a0 Friends who said &#8220;We want to get the 20th Anniversary Medal.&#8221;\u00a0 Friends who plan to run nice and slow, with a 1:1 run\/walk pattern.\u00a0 Friends who just want to finish under 7 hours and who believe that if one person has to give up on the run and just walk, then everyone walks.<\/p>\n<p>And I thought &#8220;I can do this.&#8221;\u00a0 If my heart rate gets too high, I can just walk.\u00a0 These friends understand what I go through and that I have to make sure that my heart rate stays in check.\u00a0 They don&#8217;t make fun of me for my slow speed.\u00a0 And they will be there with me every step of the way.<\/p>\n<p>So maybe I can do this.\u00a0 I have to admit, no matter how this goes, I don&#8217;t see myself signing up for any marathons other than Disney.\u00a0 But I&#8217;m very excited at the thought of finishing my first marathon hand in hand with wonderful friends.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, an email went out.\u00a0 An email with a promo for Disney Visa cardholders.\u00a0 We could sign up for 2013 Disney Marathon Weekend with a discount ($15 off the half and full, $30 off Goofy).
