{"id":4223,"date":"2016-02-01T09:00:49","date_gmt":"2016-02-01T14:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=4223"},"modified":"2016-02-01T08:47:31","modified_gmt":"2016-02-01T13:47:31","slug":"wheels-spinning-in-my-brain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2016\/02\/01\/wheels-spinning-in-my-brain\/","title":{"rendered":"Wheels Spinning in My Brain"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_4224\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4224\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/gears_1454333234.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4224\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4224\" src=\"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/gears_1454333234-300x188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/gears_1454333234-300x188.jpg 300w, http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/gears_1454333234.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4224\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pixabay.com\/users\/eugeniu\/\">eugeniu<\/a> \/ Pixabay<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The downside to the current weather is that the majority of my training has been happening indoors.\u00a0 This is good because I can keep current on a lot of tv shows, but it&#8217;s bad because indoor training requires less thinking, especially on the bike trainer.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the big thing on my mind right now is my 70.3 race.\u00a0 Nevermind that I have a number of races before then.\u00a0 That&#8217;s the big one for 2016, so I keep thinking about it.\u00a0 My big concern, as per usual, is the time limit.\u00a0 So I find myself entering potential times into race calculators to figure out what I have to do to be able to finish.\u00a0 And I set up all sorts of scenarios for myself.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Okay, it&#8217;s a fast swim, but let&#8217;s say that I have a slow swim.\u00a0 And what if I&#8217;m so tired by the end that I just walk the half marathon?\u00a0 How long do I have to finish the bike?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What if I don&#8217;t hit my goal bike pace?\u00a0 How fast do I have to run?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What if I take five extra minutes in transition?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It gets a little bit ridiculous.\u00a0 A big part of it is that I know that my biking is where I have the most room to improve.\u00a0 And I have a new bike this year, and 10 pounds less (so far) to haul around on that bike.\u00a0 So theoretically, I should be faster even without the increased training.\u00a0 But I want to be fast.\u00a0 I want to get to the run knowing that no matter what happens, as long as I keep moving forward, I will hit the finish before my time is up.<\/p>\n<p>Really, I should just stop worrying and focus on the training.\u00a0 I can only get better, and my olympic races this year will give me a good idea of how my big race will go.\u00a0 After all, it&#8217;s over 230 days away.\u00a0 Plenty of time to train.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The downside to the current weather is that the majority of my training has been happening indoors.\u00a0 This is good because I can keep current on a lot of tv shows, but it&#8217;s bad because indoor training requires less thinking, especially on the bike trainer.
