{"id":6543,"date":"2018-09-12T09:00:49","date_gmt":"2018-09-12T13:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=6543"},"modified":"2018-09-11T11:02:51","modified_gmt":"2018-09-11T15:02:51","slug":"weekly-workout-recap-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2018\/09\/12\/weekly-workout-recap-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Workout Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6544\" src=\"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/download.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/download.png 225w, http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/download-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>Guys, getting back into shape is hard.<\/p>\n<p>No really.\u00a0 It&#8217;s hard.<\/p>\n<p>But that doesn&#8217;t mean it&#8217;s not worth it.\u00a0 It&#8217;s absolutely definitely worth it.\u00a0 But getting back to running real distances is certainly a challenge.<\/p>\n<p>On to last week&#8217;s workouts.<\/p>\n<p>Monday &#8211; Pool was closed for the holiday, so I did a four mile run.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday &#8211; Choir practice started up today (normally, it&#8217;s on Mondays) so I sucked it up and got up early to ride my bike for a little over an hour.\u00a0 Crushed it.\u00a0 Then stiffened up as the day went on.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday &#8211; More trainer work, plus some strength work.\u00a0 That I am terrible about doing.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday &#8211; And the wheels fell off.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure why, but my hip was sore today when I tried to run.\u00a0 Not the pain of before, but it just didn&#8217;t feel great, so I only ran a mile and then went to foam roll.\u00a0 I&#8217;m pretty sure that I was just overly tight and so my stride was off, but it&#8217;s another reminder that just getting in the workouts isn&#8217;t enough &#8211; I need to prioritize rest and recovery too.<\/p>\n<p>Friday &#8211; Off to the pool.\u00a0 Plus strength work with noodle arms.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday &#8211; 4.8 mile run today, with none of the pain from Thursday.\u00a0 All that foam rolling helped a ton.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday &#8211; Thanks, rain.\u00a0 Instead of riding outdoors, I did an indoor brick with 90 minutes on the trainer and a mile on the treadmill.<\/p>\n<p>With a race on the horizon, I&#8217;m just about where I need to be, but still pretty far from Army Ten Miler distance, which is where I need to be in October.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll get there, but it&#8217;s slow going.<\/p>\n<p>And now, I&#8217;m off to foam roll again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guys, getting back into shape is hard.
