This month, I got the chance to try out the Sugar ‘n Spice VoxBox from Influenster.  What was in it you ask?

  • Colgate Optic White toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash
  • Single serving belVita Breakfast Biscuits
  • Box of Splenda Nectresse Sweetener
  • Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer
  • Box of Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Oil Controlling Towelettes

I’ve had a chance to try out all of these products, and here’s my honest review.

First and foremost, the belVita Breakfast Biscuits.  This was the product I expected to give the worst review.  After all, they are breakfast cookies.  They can’t be that great, right?  Well, they tasted pretty good.  That I expected.  A single serving is four wafer cookies.  From the texture, I could definitely tell that they were a “healthy” product – it wasn’t like I was eating Chips Ahoy or anything.  But they were enjoyable.  What I didn’t expect was how well they kept me full.  I had these on a Tuesday.  I ate one cookie on my way to the pool to swim and the other three on the way home.  I got to swim around 6, so I ate pretty early in the morning.  Most days, I’m hungry by around 10 am, especially on days I workout in the morning.  This day, I didn’t notice any hunger til around 11:30 or so.  I was impressed.

Are these going to be a regular part of my diet?  No – I like my breakfast smoothies.  But I may purchase a box and keep a pack in my swim bag.

I was most excited about the Colgate Optic White items.  One of my “things” is teeth.  Nothing is a bigger turnoff to me than scary teeth.  I don’t know what it is.  I am obsessed with brushing and flossing regularly.  Mostly because the idea of major dental work terrifies me.  So I was excited to try these products.

And I was running out of toothpaste.

I can’t say much about the toothbrush.  It felt funny, with the scraping bristles on the back of the brush.  But maybe I should be brushing the inside of my cheeks more?  I don’t know.  This will end up in my travel bag for now, as I plan to stick with my electric toothbrush.  The toothpaste and mouthwash are pretty nice though, and very minty.  I’m terrible about remembering to use mouthwash, but I’m trying.

The Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Oil Controlling Towelettes will also be nice for travel.  I use witch hazel on my skin from time to time, especially after a day where I’ve been wearing heavy sunscreen. (I usually just wear SPF 30 in my moisturizer, but when I’m working out or planning to be out for a long time, I use anywhere from SPF 50 to SPF 70.)  The towelettes are large and really nicely textured.  I don’t see myself using them regularly though – too wasteful.  Definitely good for a travel bag and my gym bag though!

I’m not big on artificial sweeteners of any sort, but I liked the Splenda Nectresse Sweetener that I tried.  I put it on a particularly tart mango, and I liked the sweet, non-chemical flavor it added.  I’m going to have to do some research into the product, as I recommend doing with all artificial sweeteners.

I don’t understand the Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer.  I mean, it’s a nice light moisturizer with a great fresh scent… but do I really need to be able to spray it on?  It’s packaged much like spray-on sunscreen (which I do use).  I just… don’t understand why I need it.  You still have to rub it into your skin, and while it does absorb quickly, am I in that much of a hurry in the morning that I can’t put on normal moisturizer?  The product just confuses me.

So there you have it.  Testing out this box was pretty fun, but I generally like receiving surprises in the mail.

And of course, the required text:  “I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.”
