That Aren&#8217;t Perfect &#8211; My Diet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been thinking about doing a post on this, but <a href=\"http:\/\/rowhouse14.blogspot.com\/2013\/03\/confessions-of-not-so-perfect-blogger.html\">Heidi <\/a> has inspired me.\u00a0 There seems to be this trend among bloggers to make ourselves look perfect.\u00a0 I&#8217;d like to say that I haven&#8217;t fallen into that trap, but at the same time, I&#8217;m not always honest about my imperfections.\u00a0 And trust me, there are many.<\/p>\n<p>Lately, I&#8217;ve been seeing a lot of posts about clean eating.\u00a0 And you know what?\u00a0 Clean eating is an awesome idea.\u00a0 I just struggle with it.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t eat a ton of processed foods, but trust me, they&#8217;re there.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a sample of what I ate one day last week:<\/p>\n<p>Breakfast: Coffee (black), chocolate protein shake with added blueberries and strawberries<\/p>\n<p>Lunch:\u00a0 Amy&#8217;s Light and Lean Soft Taco, Triple Chocolate VitaTop<\/p>\n<p>Snacks: Blood Orange Chobani, apple, carrots, hummus, black tea<\/p>\n<p>Dinner: Grilled chicken breast, Green Giant Steamed Veggies w\/ Cheese Sauce<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/000064.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1490\" alt=\"000064\" src=\"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/000064-300x300.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/000064-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/000064-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/000064-120x120.jpg 120w, https:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/000064.jpg 540w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Yum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">So it looks relatively healthy, right?\u00a0 But lunch was all packaged meals, as were the veggies at dinner.\u00a0 And while Amy&#8217;s meals are on the healthier side of packaged meals, I often go for a Lean Cuisine as well.\u00a0 I picked a day at random, but this particular day was neither my best nor my worst of the week.<\/p>\n<p>One of the perils of eating packaged foods is the risk of too much sodium.\u00a0 But I watch the numbers and I&#8217;m doing just fine.\u00a0 I would love to be able to cook more often, but as a super busy single lady, it&#8217;s just not happening.\u00a0 I try to do a big batch cook on the weekends, but it doesn&#8217;t always happen, and when it does, I either eat that for dinner or lunch, never both.\u00a0 Well, sometimes both if it&#8217;s something super delicious.<\/p>\n<p>For me, a big part of the problem is finding time.\u00a0 And yes, I know that if I rearranged my priorities, I could find more time to cook.\u00a0 But I like my priorities where they are and I don&#8217;t feel the need to rearrange them.<\/p>\n<p>See, there I go, defending my decision to keep some processed foods in my diet.\u00a0 I shouldn&#8217;t have to.\u00a0 I have made the choice and I should stick with it.\u00a0 It&#8217;s my decision what I eat.\u00a0 I work on eating a balanced diet, getting in enough veggies and protein to fuel my body.\u00a0 But I also eat for enjoyment.\u00a0 And I don&#8217;t really enjoy cooking after a long day at work.<\/p>\n<p>I have made other positive changes in my diet.\u00a0 I used to be a huge fan of 100 calorie snack packs.\u00a0 Those have been completely dropped.\u00a0 I also used to drink a diet soda every day.\u00a0 While I haven&#8217;t cut diet soda completely, it&#8217;s now a rarity for me rather than something I have every single day.\u00a0 I also try to avoid artificial sweeteners, but that&#8217;s mainly because some of them upset my stomach.<\/p>\n<p>But there you have it.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not perfect.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not at home every night crafting a beautiful meal.\u00a0 I have no problem with people who do, and if they want to come to my house and feed me, I would be all about it.\u00a0 But it&#8217;s just not something that works in my life right now.<\/p>\n<p>Thus ends the first in what may be a
