{"id":1647,"date":"2013-04-19T08:00:40","date_gmt":"2013-04-19T12:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=1647"},"modified":"2013-04-15T12:06:13","modified_gmt":"2013-04-15T16:06:13","slug":"do-what-works-for-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/19\/do-what-works-for-you\/","title":{"rendered":"Do What Works For You"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/small_346990046.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1665\" alt=\"small_346990046\" src=\"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/small_346990046.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So if you&#8217;ve been on the internet at all lately, I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;ve heard about CrossFit.\u00a0 It seems to be the latest and greatest in workouts.<\/p>\n<p>I have to be honest, I haven&#8217;t done CrossFit.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t appeal to me for many reasons, but the primary reason being that there isn&#8217;t a CrossFit box in a convenient location for me.\u00a0 I know myself and my fitness habits, and if it&#8217;s not easy for me to get there, I&#8217;m not going to do it.\u00a0 There is a reason that I do weight-lifting videos and own a treadmill and a bike trainer and only have a pool membership, not a gym membership.<\/p>\n<p>But I&#8217;m not here to trash CrossFit either.\u00a0 It looks awesome and it clearly works for a lot of people.<\/p>\n<p>I have noticed, however, that because CrossFit is the current &#8220;popular&#8221; thing (I feel like it&#8217;s replaced P90X in terms of being the &#8220;thing&#8221; that everyone interested in fitness is talking about), people who aren&#8217;t into it are feeling left out or lesser than.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t put myself into this category because for much of my life, I&#8217;ve been the person off doing whatever I wanted and not worrying about being popular.\u00a0 This wasn&#8217;t great in the junior high years, but ultimately, it&#8217;s served me well.<\/p>\n<p>But my point is &#8211; do what you want!\u00a0 Do what works for you.\u00a0 If you love CrossFit, do it!\u00a0 If you prefer to be a more solo exerciser, do it!\u00a0 Don&#8217;t worry if you&#8217;re not doing what&#8217;s popular.\u00a0 Exercise is very individual and even if a workout is awesome and works doesn&#8217;t mean it&#8217;s right for you.\u00a0 If you aren&#8217;t motivated to do it, then it isn&#8217;t going to work for you.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t let yourself be pressured into changing just because the cool kids are doing it.\u00a0 Be yourself and be confident in that.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>photo credit: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ericmcgregor\/346990046\/\">ericmcgregor<\/a> via <a href=\"http:\/\/photopin.com\">photopin<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by\/2.0\/\">cc<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So if you&#8217;ve been on the internet at all lately, I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;ve heard about CrossFit.\u00a0 It seems to be the latest and greatest in workouts.
