Yesterday, I got home after a lovely weekend away with the girls. \u00a0I walked up to my bedroom and went to flip on a light and nothing happened. \u00a0Strange. \u00a0I checked the bedside lamp as well and realized a breaker must have been tripped. \u00a0I wasn’t sure how, since I hadn’t been home, but who knows. \u00a0I went into the basement, discovered that yes, a breaker had been tripped, reset it, and went back upstairs.<\/p>\n

And there was light. \u00a0Hooray!<\/p>\n

A bit later, I noticed that my jewelry hanger had fallen off the wall.<\/p>\n

Not this one, the one just like it on the other side of the mirror.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Not unusual. \u00a0I went to pick up the necklaces and discovered what had tripped the breaker.<\/p>\n

Had fallen just so that it landed directly on this air freshener<\/p>\n

And managed to slide down to rest on the prongs. \u00a0Yeah, not a great thing. \u00a0It apparently got so hot that it started to melt the prongs. \u00a0And the necklace melted in two as well.<\/p>\n

That can’t be good.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I went back downstairs, flipped the breaker back off, and unplugged the air freshener and tossed everything.<\/p>\n

I didn’t take a picture of the outlet before I cleaned it off, but this is what it looks like now.<\/p>\n

It was a total freak accident, but I am so lucky there was no real damage. \u00a0I will probably have an electrician out to check out that outlet at some point, but for now, I just plan to not use it. \u00a0I’m so glad that the breaker tripped as it was supposed to.<\/p>\n
