{"id":2238,"date":"2013-09-03T08:00:36","date_gmt":"2013-09-03T12:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=2238"},"modified":"2013-09-02T16:06:38","modified_gmt":"2013-09-02T20:06:38","slug":"still-on-the-injured-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/03\/still-on-the-injured-list\/","title":{"rendered":"Still on the Injured List"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So.<\/p>\n<p>My calf is better. \u00a0Much, much better. \u00a0My massage was an exercise in pain and suffering, but it was amazing how much better I felt coming out of it. \u00a0My whole leg was a mess of knots.<\/p>\n<p>(As an aside, after the massage, I came home and ordered the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollrecovery.com\/r8\/\">R8 Massage Roller<\/a>. \u00a0If that can&#8217;t help, nothing can. \u00a0I shall call him Obi-Wan, because he is my only hope.)<\/p>\n<p>So no running Friday. No running Saturday. \u00a0Sunday, I went and biked with the group. \u00a0Tough, since I hadn&#8217;t been on my bike since race day, but my calf didn&#8217;t give me any trouble.<\/p>\n<p>Monday was the day set aside for my long run. \u00a0I hemmed and hawed about what I wanted to do. \u00a0My leg wasn&#8217;t quite 100%, but it was much better. \u00a0Just a little twingey. \u00a0Still, I didn&#8217;t want to screw it up.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m always telling people that it&#8217;s better to go into a race slightly undertrained and healthy than risk injury. \u00a0And yet I struggled to take that same advice. \u00a0It was only after multiple people reassured me that yes, waiting to run was not a bad plan in this case that I took yesterday as a rest day as well.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve decided to not run again til Wednesday. That gives me a full week of recovery. \u00a0Until then, stretching and foam rolling. \u00a0And lots of finger crossing for tomorrow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So.
