{"id":2397,"date":"2013-11-20T08:07:51","date_gmt":"2013-11-20T13:07:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=2397"},"modified":"2013-11-20T08:07:51","modified_gmt":"2013-11-20T13:07:51","slug":"where-did-these-miles-come-from","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/20\/where-did-these-miles-come-from\/","title":{"rendered":"Where did these miles come from?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I feel like my marathon training has snuck up on me.\u00a0 Nevermind that I ran 15 miles two weeks ago.\u00a0 (On the treadmill.\u00a0 Yes, I&#8217;m going to continue to talk about that.)<\/p>\n<p>This weekend, I&#8217;ve got 16, then a &#8220;stepback&#8221; week of a half marathon, then it&#8217;s up to 18 miles.\u00a0 Already?<\/p>\n<p>I admit that my 20 miler is peaking at a time that some would consider early when it comes to the marathon date, but I had to make it fit in my holiday travel schedule.\u00a0 I know myself and I know how things go and I know that if I tried to make it happen while home at my parents&#8217; house, I wouldn&#8217;t get it in.\u00a0\u00a0 Their treadmill would kill me and I think I would have to circle the town four times to get in 20 miles.\u00a0 Not that it wouldn&#8217;t be doable, but I just know how things work in my life.<\/p>\n<p>So I&#8217;ll get in 20 miles 3 weeks before the marathon, and then I&#8217;ll be ready to go.<\/p>\n<p>Again, my only time goals are to do better than last year and to be able to ride Expedition Everest in the middle of the marathon.<\/p>\n<p>No, I&#8217;m probably not what you&#8217;re going to call a serious marathoner at this point.\u00a0 But I&#8217;m doing it for fun.\u00a0 If it&#8217;s not fun, it&#8217;s not worth my time.<\/p>\n<p>For now, though, I just have to focus on getting through 16 miles on Saturday.\u00a0 8 miles out, 8 back.\u00a0 Totally doable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I feel like my marathon training has snuck up on me.\u00a0 Nevermind that I ran 15 miles two weeks ago.\u00a0 (On the treadmill.\u00a0 Yes, I&#8217;m going to continue to talk about that.)
