{"id":243,"date":"2011-07-24T08:23:11","date_gmt":"2011-07-24T12:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=243"},"modified":"2011-07-24T08:23:11","modified_gmt":"2011-07-24T12:23:11","slug":"home-gym","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2011\/07\/24\/home-gym\/","title":{"rendered":"Home Gym?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Clearly I&#8217;ve not found my blogging groove. \u00a0But I have had a good running month so far. \u00a0My goal this year is to run 600 miles, which is 50 miles a month. \u00a0Given my racing schedule, that shouldn&#8217;t be a problem. \u00a0But unfortunately, I&#8217;ve been slacking. \u00a0Not this month though! \u00a0As soon as I finish today&#8217;s 9 miler (on the treadmill, sadly &#8211; stupid heatwave), I will have topped 50 miles for the month. \u00a0Of course, thanks to the previous months, I need to do around 57 miles for July through December to hit my goal of 600, but I&#8217;m pleased to be on the right track.<\/p>\n<p>I bought a treadmill this month. \u00a0It was on super sale because it&#8217;s summer and people run outside. \u00a0I love it. \u00a0I love having it. \u00a0And it meant that I could cancel my gym membership as well. \u00a0For so many people, a treadmill becomes a coatrack or a place to pile things. \u00a0Some of my friends have made similar comments. \u00a0Given the miles that I ran on the treadmill at the gym over the past few years, I think it will get quite a bit of use. \u00a0Probably more than the gym did, even. \u00a0I don&#8217;t have to travel to the gym, so on those awful weather days, I can just get dressed and hop on the treadmill with no trouble.<\/p>\n<p>I also bought a road bike yesterday! \u00a0I&#8217;ve wanted a bike for years, and I finally took the leap. \u00a0That was definitely an investment, and I hope that it&#8217;s something that I love. \u00a0I haven&#8217;t gotten a chance to take her out yet (see previously mentioned heat wave), but I&#8217;m hoping to get out for a few miles this afternoon and maybe a few more miles tomorrow with Laura. \u00a0I just have to do my best to not crash! \u00a0But I have a helmet, so I&#8217;ll be fine. \u00a0Went with platform pedals to start rather than clipless. \u00a0I want to get used to the bike first, then in a few months, switch to clipless. \u00a0Eventually, I&#8217;ll get a trainer for the winter, so there will be no excuse for not working out.<\/p>\n<p>And now it&#8217;s time for a \u00a09 miler on the treadmill. \u00a0Wish me luck.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clearly I&#8217;ve not found my blogging groove. \u00a0But I have had a good running month so far. \u00a0My goal this year is to run 600 miles, which is 50 miles a month. \u00a0Given my racing schedule, that shouldn&#8217;t be a problem. \u00a0But unfortunately, I&#8217;ve been slacking. \u00a0Not this month though! \u00a0As soon as I finish [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[41],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.7 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Home Gym?
