{"id":3305,"date":"2015-01-23T09:00:20","date_gmt":"2015-01-23T14:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/?p=3305"},"modified":"2015-01-23T08:45:10","modified_gmt":"2015-01-23T13:45:10","slug":"many-muscle-knots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elbowglitter.com\/blog\/2015\/01\/23\/many-muscle-knots\/","title":{"rendered":"So Many Muscle Knots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have a confession to make.\u00a0 I am terrible about stretching after a workout.\u00a0 I mean, I think about doing it and sort of halfheartedly stretch, but really, I need to do a lot more.<\/p>\n<p>How do I know this?\u00a0 After a few days of some solid workouts, my legs are a mess of muscle knots.\u00a0 My hip flexors ache.\u00a0 My lower back is sore (something that I&#8217;ve discovered happens to me when my hips get tight).\u00a0 So it&#8217;s time to get back to basics.<\/p>\n<p>I spent about half an hour on the foam roller last night.\u00a0 It hurt.\u00a0 A lot.\u00a0 But my hips feel so much better today.\u00a0 Seriously, if you&#8217;re a runner\/walker\/whatever-er, get a foam roller.\u00a0 You don&#8217;t know how good you can feel until you try it.<\/p>\n<p>I have a nagging knot in my calf diagnosed by my Coach that has been driving me nuts.\u00a0 I was having shin pain and she said &#8220;Hey, roll out your calf, it&#8217;s probably a knot there.&#8221;\u00a0 I poked around and yep.\u00a0 There it is.\u00a0 I worked on it with a massage ball and my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollrecovery.com\/r8\/\" target=\"_blank\">R8 Roll Recovery<\/a> (the most expensive, yet most useful massage tool I have ever purchased) and today it still hurts.\u00a0 I need to spend more time working it out.<\/p>\n<p>And while stretching wouldn&#8217;t solve anything, it probably would have prevented me from getting into such a twisted mess.\u00a0 So learn from my mistakes.\u00a0 Stretch.\u00a0 Foam roll a lot.\u00a0 Not just when you think you need it.<\/p>\n<p>Ow.<\/p>\n<p>(Sponsored side note &#8211; if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you know that I&#8217;m doing five days of <a href=\"http:\/\/diettogo.evyy.net\/c\/130342\/175357\/3159\" target=\"_blank\">Diet-to-Go<\/a> meals.\u00a0 I will do a full review next week, but if you&#8217;re interested, check out the site and use code <strong>DTGA110<\/strong> for 25% off your first order of any meal plan.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a confession to make.\u00a0 I am terrible about stretching after a workout.\u00a0 I mean, I think about doing it and sort of halfheartedly stretch, but really, I need to do a lot more.
