As I was doing laundry this week, I realized that I haven’t washed workout gear since before the marathon.
And I haven’t noticed that I’m running out.
Clearly, this is an indication that I have way too much workout gear and that I should pare down. Of course, then I would have to do laundry more often.
Admittedly, I haven’t been working out as much as I should. I took a bunch of rest days after the marathon (which is something that I should have done) and I’m still easing back into the rest. Also, I’m picking up biking and swimming, which involves different gear (well, I bike in my running shirts when I’m on the trainer since I don’t need the pockets).
But I feel like my drawer of running shirts is still fairly full. This is partly a result of racing – all those race shirts really start to add up. I’ve already pulled out the ones I never wear, but everything else ultimately ends up in rotation. Clearly, I can pare down again. I’m not getting rid of them – rather, I’m keeping them in a box for this hypothetical t-shirt quilt I will someday make. When I learn to sew. I’m excellent at making big plans, you see.
So maybe I should go through my gear and see if anything needs to be tossed.
Of course then I’ll have to do laundry more often.
An option is to mail the shirts out to a site like http://tshirtquilts.com/
