This weekend, Caitlin was in town for our old roommate’s bridal shower. Yes, even though Caitlin and I haven’t lived together since… 2004, we have a mutual old roommate. Cait lived with her in college and she lived with me here in DC until a year or so ago. It was a quick trip – she arrived Friday afternoon and left Sunday afternoon. The shower was Saturday, in a town 3.5 hours away.

Since Cait and I are both running Princess, we had big plans. Grand plans. We would go for a run on Sunday morning, like good runners do.

Then she realized she couldn’t fit her running gear into her carry-on. Well, there went that plan. Probably for the best, as it was cold and snowy on Sunday morning.

Of course, that meant that I didn’t get in a long run all weekend. I definitely felt like a slug, but when I finally got a chance to sit down after our busy weekend, it was 4pm on Sunday and I still had a lot of housework to get done before starting the week. So I just decided to call it a wash and start Monday with a 4 mile run.

That means, however, that even though I have a 5k race next weekend, I still have to do a long run on Saturday. I have to be ready for Princess. So what if I ran a marathon a few weeks ago? These legs have to be ready to run 13.1 more!
