Four day weekends are glorious. And relaxing. It was amazing to do “nothing” all weekend.
Why do I put nothing in quotes? Well, my version of doing nothing isn’t everyone’s version of doing nothing.
This weekend, I ran 10 miles and biked 10 miles and worked on cleaning my house from top to bottom. It didn’t get done, but I made a dent. I also did six loads of laundry. Which might not seem like a lot to those of you with kids, but I live alone. This was all my laundry.
So that doesn’t seem like nothing, does it. But then I think about what I didn’t do.
I didn’t have a race or any travel (aside from driving to a friend’s cookout yesterday).
I didn’t set my alarm any morning.
Aside from the cookout, I didn’t have anything scheduled. There was nowhere I had to be for three of those four days.
I also managed to watch an embarrassing number of episodes of Parks and Recreation.
It was awesome.
I need to remember to keep some weekends completely uncommitted. Less racing, more sleeping in. It helps me save money too.
