Since my olympic distance triathlon in September, my training focus has been on the Space Coast Half.  Now that the race has been conquered and I’m delighted with my time, I have to figure out what’s coming up next and where I need to focus my efforts.

One of my goals for the winter is to really improve my biking, which can be done with some quality trainer rides.  I’ve got a couple of triathlons on the schedule already for next year and I’m looking forward to working on the olympic distance.  I’m also returning to Iron Girl Columbia for the third year and would very much like to improve my time again in 2015.  For me, it’s the easiest way to see that all my training is paying off.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that I can give up on running.  Not only is running the third leg of triathlon, obviously, but I actually have four running races before my first triathlon of the season:

  • Disney 10k
  • Disney Half (on my birthday!)
  • Donna Half
  • Cherry Blossom Ten Miler

Of those, I’m mentally most focused on Cherry Blossom.  The Disney races are often a wash because I’ve spent so much time on my feet before the races and I end up stuck in crowds and unable to run a good pace. That’s okay – I run Disney for the experience, not because I want to be fast.  Donna could go either way – it depends on the weather, to be honest.

And soon enough after, I start back up with triathlons!  Hooray!
