A friend asked me the other day if all of my triathlon training is helping me lose weight.
In a word, no.
Of course, the training is certainly having an effect on my body, and muscle weighs more than fat, and I’m pretty sure I’m toning up. I have to be! But it’s not like I’m dropping belly fat as I would like to.
Admittedly, a lot of this is my fault. 75% of the time, my diet is awesome. But that other 25% of the time is not good. Not good at all. I think it’s maybe because I do keep my diet so tight that when I splurge, I go completely off the rails. I need more planned splurges.
I’m still following Weight Watchers, and I just set my ActiveLink for a new challenge, so I’m going to try to increase my activity. Some of that is going to happen naturally as my training picks back up and I force myself to stick to the plan.
I’m also doing another DietBet with Diet-to-Go. I’ve done a few DietBets before, and sometimes I’m successful and sometimes I’m not, but I figured since I’m a DTG Ambassador, I’d give this one a shot. I’m hoping I can do it.
Clearly my plan to tone up for the cruise didn’t happen. The cruise is in late September, and I’m not going to lose 20 pounds by then. But I do need to lose the weight that has been creeping on.
Blargh.
Ugh. I hear you. It’s a never-ending battle. Chin up, young person! Your training is still ridiculously inspiring!

I’m with you on those splurges, I do the same exact thing. I like the idea of “planned” splurges, that way I don’t go completely nuts! Hah!

I totally feel you. It’s getting super frustrating.
UGH I hear you. and the worst part is knowing exactly why it’s happening. (dinner the other night, I’m looking at you.)
