I stayed home from work today. My coworkers have been passing around a bug that apparently isn’t the flu, but is much like it. I’ve been under the weather much of the week, but not feverish, so I have been going to work. This morning, I woke up with a raging headache and a slight fever.
Guess it’s my turn.
Admittedly, I could have drugged up and gone to work, but I firmly believe in taking sick days, not only for my own benefit but for the benefit of my coworkers who don’t need to catch whatever I’ve got. (One coworker, who won’t be named, does not believe in this, hence the reason we all got sick.)
But I’m one of the lucky ones. I have sick leave that I can take. I have a boss who is understanding about these things. And by taking a sick day, I’m not risking my paycheck.
With all the talk about healthcare lately, it’s just a reminder of how lucky I am.
Now, off to make some more tea and snuggle with the cat. He likes sick days more than I do.
I agree, and am also one of the lucky ones. Enjoy the cat, the tea and your DVR 🙂 Feel better!
Feel better!! Sending hugs.
