I admit it, I like race medals a bit too much.  I know some people don’t care about their race medals, but to me, it’s a visual representation of the miles that I’ve put in and it’s a reminder to keep training.  My medals all hang in the basement, which is where I keep my bike trainer and my treadmill.  It’s not quite a pain cave, but it’s getting there.

First up, we have the Disney race medals.

Disney Race MedalsThese hang separately because number one, they are giant, and number two, they have some of my most important races.  The two on the very left are possibly the most notable, as they’re from my first half marathon and my first marathon, both races that I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to finish until I had just a few miles left.

Then there are the other running medals.

IMG_2122.JPGThey’re looking a bit cluttered, but there’s still plenty of room for the rest of this year’s road races, which are thankfully few.  Assuming I do complete the Space Coast Five Year challenge, I may find a better way to display those seven medals, but for now, those two races are mixed in with the others.

The newest addition to my medal display is thanks to my brother and sister-in-law.

Triathlon medalsYes, my triathlon medals are pretty sparse, but I think this medal rack is my favorite, because I feel like I worked my ass off for all those medals.  Including the one Kristin made me for our DIY triathlon.  Someday, I’m sure triathlon will also become old hat and not something that I’m terrified for every time I show up at a start line, but for now, each race is a huge accomplishment.
